The Veg Chop or Vegetable Chop is a popular snack both on the street and in traditional Bengali homes. The recipe calls for many vegetables that are in general, good for health. It has all the goodness of fresh winter veggies.This is a very tasty fried item that can be served as an snack or as part of a meal to go with rice and daal. Veg chop with its signature beetroot-red filling. Though my experimental chop is not red filling but it is veg chop.
My main Ingredients for this recipe are Cauliflower, Carrot, Green Peas and Amada (Mango Ginger). You guys already know the food values of the Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea), Carrot (Daucus carota) and Green Peas (Pisum sativum) but do you know anything about “Amada” or “Mango Ginger”? It’s look like Aada or Ginger and the most interesting thing you will get the Mango flavor form it. Scientific name of this vegetable is “Curcuma Amada”. - 1 Large Potato (boil)
- 1 cup Julienne Carrot (boil)
- 1 cup chopped Cauliflower (boil)
- ½ cup Green Peas (boil)
- 1 Big Onion (chopped)
- 5 to 6 Green Chilli (chopped)
- 1 tbsp Amada (Mango Ginger) paste
- 2 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp Kaju or Cashew nuts (chopped)
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds pd
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds pd (roasted)
- ½ tsp Red Chilli pd
- Pinch of Kala Jira
- 1 cup Flour
- ½ cup Besan (Gram Flour)
- 1 tbsp Corn flour
- ½ tsp Baking Soda
- Refined Oil
TIME REQUIRED : Less than 30 minutes
Heat some oil in a pan and add pinch of kala jira . Add onion, green chilli and kaju and fry for few min when the onion and kaju colors come nice golden.
Add cauliflower, carrot , peas and some salt fry for 30 sec. Add cumin seeds pd, red chili pd, amada paste and little bit of sugar. And mix together.
At last add roasted pd of cumin seeds mix very well and keep aside for cooling. After cooling the mixture, add boil potato, corn flour and mashed them very well. Now we need make some balls from this mixture.
Take a bowl and mix flour, gram flour, baking soda, salt and mix it with a little water to get a thin batter. Dip the each balls into the batter and coat them in breadcrumbs.
Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan and fry in medium flame until balls are golden-brown in color. Now Veg-Chop is ready.
Before you serve keep them paper towel to get rid of those excess unwanted oil.
Now, serve hot with ketchup and hot coffee.
