Cabbages are cooked in a variety of different ways, but my today recipe Cabbage Curry is a regular homemade dish, and this is from the old school style.
Rotating into your family meals is the ideal balanced diner choice. In India Cabbage is known as Band Gobi or Patta Gobhi, and the scientific name for the cabbage is Brassica Oleracea. Cabbage has countless benefits in your diet! It is rich in vitamin K, C & Riboflavin. Cabbage cleans the stomach and upper intestines waste which improves digestion and reduces constipation.
- 1 small Cabbage (Patta Gobhi) (chopped finely)
- Potatoes (Aloo) (cubes) – 2 pics
- Green Peas – ½ cup
- 1 big Tomato (chopped)
- 5 to 6 Green Chillies (chopped)
- Red Chilli pd -1 tsp
- Turmeric pd – 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp
- Bay Leaf (Tejpata) – 2 pics
- Dry Chillies – 2 pics
- Garam Masala -½ tsp
- Sugar (to taste)
- Salt (to taste)
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Refined oil
TIME REQUIRED : Less than 30 minutes
Heat oil and fri the potato in a deep Kadai, once the potato has browned beautifully take the potato out and hold it aside.
Add some oil to this Kadai, then add dry chili, bay leaf and cumin seeds.When cumin seeds are crackle,then add cabbage and fri for 5 to 8 min.
Now add green peas and green chilies. Saute for few min. Add tomatoes and some salt.Cover the pan for a couple of minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
Add the fried potatoes. After that add one by one red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt.
Continue cooking until all the ingredients combine well. If the mixture is too dry during cooking use water sprinkled on it.
Add some sugar again saute for few sec.
At last just add some ghee and garam masala mix well.
Okay! now turn off the Gas. Cover the pan and wait for a few mints. Your hot Spicy Cabbage Curry is ready to serve with Rice, Paratha or Roti.
